LOS ANGELES, California, Oct. 27, 2026. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Monday night that Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show. The performance is scheduled for Feb. 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The announcement ends a period of speculation about who would take the stage for the 2027 NFL championship game. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, will lead the entertainment segment that has previously featured artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny. The show will be executive produced by Roc Nation, with Hamish Hamilton serving as director.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had one specific request when the league first partnered with Roc Nation in 2019. Goodell asked that Jay-Z perform on the Super Bowl stage whenever the moment felt right to him. Jay-Z said in a statement that the move represents a thirty-year journey from his 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," to the world's biggest stage.

"From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey," Jay-Z said. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

Jay-Z recently finished a concert tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Reasonable Doubt." The tour included three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, as well as sold-out performances in London and Paris. He closed the run at SoFi Stadium over the weekend. During those final shows, his daughter Blue Ivy played piano on tracks including "The Story of O.J." and "Dead Presidents." Guests such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, Scarface, John Legend and DJ Khaled also appeared.

The rapper has won 25 Grammy Awards and has received 89 nominations. He is the second artist in history with the most nominations, behind his wife, Beyoncé. Beyoncé has performed at two previous Super Bowls. Jay-Z was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. He also won four Emmy Awards during his career.

Roc Nation has advised on and helped produce NFL entertainment presentations since 2019. When the partnership began, Jay-Z told Goodell that if the deal was about him performing at the Super Bowl, they could end the conversation. Seven years later, he is set to take the stage. The "Reasonable Doubt" album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.
